The Affalterbach Years: Before AMG was a trim package, Affalterbach was a small German tuning shop outside Stuttgart, obsessed with absolute performance. One technician built and signed each hand-assembled V8, then stuffed it into a heavy Mercedes until the whole car moved with real menace. You feel it in the pull, the exhaust note, and a car that still carries that Affalterbach intent.
